Their 2016 statement, quoted on Wikipedia, describes Sleep Token as “a masked, anonymous collective of musicians; united by their worship of an ancient deity crudely dubbed ‘Sleep’” and names the group as “led by the perpetually tormented, supremely talented Vessel.”
Asked in a 2017 Metal Hammer interview why they stay anonymous, the band answered: “Our identities are unimportant. Vessel and Leo George Faulkner: What the Record Shows
A copyright record for the Sleep Token song “The Night Does Not Belong to God” lists the composers as “Adam Pedder and Leo Faulkner”, with publishers that include WC Music Corp. on behalf of Vessel. Because Wikipedia notes that II is the only member other than Vessel with songwriting credits, a two-name composer credit is consistent with that pairing. That is an inference, not a confirmation. The fan-run Leo Faulkner Archive also points to an ASCAP writer entry and to a guitar passage from Blacklit Canopy’s “Don’t Let The World Swallow You” reused in “Damocles”; these are fan claims we have not independently confirmed.

Recognition has followed the release of Even in Arcadia. Per Wikipedia’s awards record: Sleep Token were nominated at the 68th Grammy Awards for Best Metal Performance (“Emergence”) and Best Rock Song (“Caramel”), and the table lists both as nominations rather than wins; Vessel won Masked Musician of the Year at the December 2025 Nocturnal Awards; Even in Arcadia won Rock Album of the Year at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards; and the band were nominated for Group of the Year at the 2026 Brit Awards.
